@kimlovesfun this is not a battle of sexes and your logic is bourgeois, in the face of poverty esteem is nothing, its a fictitious concept. What the world cup did was pave a way for corporations justifying there presence and theft of African resources. Also westernising Africa is not called “helping” Africa. I still state that world cup was a waste of money
Maybe not “cure the poor” but it can bring attention to crisis and build self esteem in young women. Self esteem that is so very valuable for young women in any part of the world.
Great example of empowering young people – especially girls – with their innate, untapped capacities, and linking to a global event that the world is watching. It gives so much meaning beyond? kicking a ball and shows the power of the World Cup and the sport for uniting, bringing meaning and purpose. Thanks for drawing attention to such a great story!
